Marvin Berkowitz

Dr. Marvin W Berkowitz, a developmental and educational psychologist, is Founders Professor of Education and Co-Director of the Center for Character and Citizenship at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. His scholarly focus is character education and development. He is author of Parenting for good (2005), You Can’t Teach Through a Rat (2012), PRIMED for Character Education (2021), and PRIMED to Compete (2025). He is co-editor of the Journal of Character Education. Dr. Berkowitz received Character.org’s McDonnell Lifetime Achievement Award (2006) and the Association for Moral Education’s Good Works Award (2010) and Kuhmerker Career Achievement Award (2013).
